I Love TV Themes

dailyanimation:

DuckTales (opening) (1987)

(Walt Disney)

Just because it was one of my favorite shows.

Thanks, dailyanimation! A couple of notes on this theme song:

First of all, it is awesome. You are correct to put it on your blog.

Second of all, this song was written by Mark Mueller, who also (surprise!) wrote the theme song for Chip ‘n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers, and also wrote a ton of pop music you’ve probably heard.

Third of all, this song features maybe the biggest gap in quality between the lyrics of the verse and the lyrics of the chorus. Actually listen to the first verse of this song:

Life is like a hurricane/Here is Duckburg/Racecars, lasers, aeroplanes/It’s a duck-blur.

THAT IS STUPID. THESE ARE STUPID WORDS. But check out the chorus:

Tales of derring-do-bad-and-good luck tales

THAT’S AWESOME WORDPLAY.

And lastly, watching this series of clips from the show, who remembered how freaking crazy this show was? Was there any through-line at all? They went to the ocean? And outer space? And history? Whoa.
